UNO Shave Company Founders’ Story
In 2019 we agreed on something pretty easy to understand. Shaving razor technology has made most commercial razor replacement cartridges egregiously expensive, and the shaves have become worse over time, not better.
Our home is Montana. And this is where our long friendship and the later collaboration on the UNO project began. In Montana, things need to work. Fluff, flash and stupidity get called to the carpet. Fast. And it is the pioneering and utilitarian spirit of Montana, and the forebears of those tools of necessity and improvements thereupon, that we built the foundation of the UNO razor.
From our scribbled notes on scratch-paper to the very day you're reading this, we've to aimed to terminate stupidity and cost in the cartridge razor marketplace. Taking the most basic geometry from the very first disposable razor heads, we re-engineered the removal of hair with cost and performance at the front of design. We took a very simple injection-molded razor head, and fixed it. We found the best steel possible, and combined this simple disposable razor with a type of steel that such rudimentary design had never been graced with. We then augmented the angle of cutting. We perfected it. We married it to a durable, hardened, single-piece aluminum handle. It is perfect, and perfectly simple.
Our commitment to improvements are those only honesty can make. We won't sell you something that isn't good for you, or your wallet. Can you honestly say that about what Gillette does to you as you wash out a clogged razor cartridge with five blades in it?
We want you to trust us. And we feel that once you see, feel and use the razor... you will. The recent resurgences in popularity of old-fashioned safety razors prove a point that UNO also relies on. The multi-blade games are over. However, cartridges are far more convenient, portable and safe than safety razors. They just are. That's what we have for you, and at a price that you can afford – the modern and reliable conveniences of a cartridge shaving system, with the simplicity and beauty of a single blade gracing your skin.
